The Lumia 640 XL is the supersized version of the Lumia 640. It has a massive 5.7-inch display, better camera and larger battery. But is it worth your money? In this Nokia Lumia 640 XL review, you will find the answer to the question.
Nokia Lumia 640 XL Review: Design
The Lumia 640 XL has a great build quality. You will not find the irritating gaps in between the screen and the trim. Unlike the Lumia 640, its plastic back comes with the matte plastic. It makes the device much nicer to grip. However, we have found some issues. The device comes with a neon orange case. Yes, the color is unique. But it looks really strange for a smartphone. Moreover, it’s a bit chunkier and thicker than the Lumia 640. You cannot stretch your thumb to the side of the display.
Nokia Lumia 640 XL Review: Display
The 5.7-inch display has a resolution of 720 x 1280 pixels. It results in a pixel density of 259, which is lower than the display of the Lumia 640. However, that doesn’t mean that it is a bad display. Like most of the Lumia phone displays, it produces bright and vibrant colors. All the texts and images look reasonably sharp. Watching videos on it is a real pleasure. Its black levels and contrast ratio performance are really great. As a result, it gets a positive feedback in our Nokia Lumia 640 XL review.
Nokia Lumia 640 XL Review: Camera
The 13-MP primary camera is one of the best budget friendly smartphone shooters on the market. In the environment with a plenty of light, it can capture absolutely stunning photos. You will be really surprised how nicely detailed and sharp photos that it can take. Despite not having the optical image stabilization feature, it still manages to take decent shots in the low light condition. You will find a bit noise in the captured images. However, the amount is acceptable. The device also has a 5-MP secondary camera, which features the wide angle lens. As a result, it shows a great performance in taking group selfies. For all these reasons, both of the shooters get a great feedback in our Nokia Lumia 640 XL review.
Nokia Lumia 640 XL Review: Performance
Being a budget-friendly smartphone, the Lumia 640 XL is unable to deliver a blistering performance. Do not expect a super-fast performance from it like the Galaxy Note 5. However, that doesn’t mean that it cannot run games, like Asphalt 8 and Subway Surfer, flawlessly. Playing the particular game was a real pleasure. Being a Windows phone, it is really snappy and responsive. We didn’t experience any lagging or stuttering while using it. In the AnTuTu benchmark test, it scores 12,142, which is perfectly acceptable for a budget friendly device.
Nokia Lumia 640 XL Review: Battery
The performance of the 3000 mAh battery is very impressive. After using the device moderately, we find that it still has 25%-30% of the charge left at the end of the day. In GSMArena’s endurance rating test, the battery survived 74 hours, which clearly proves its ability to perform brilliantly.
Nokia Lumia 640 XL Review: The Verdict
The combination of great shooters, snappy performance and outstanding battery make the Lumia 640 XL a must-have device for the Windows phone lovers. However, costing around $255.99, it falls into the pricing territory of popular Android phones, like OnePlus One and Huawei Ascend, which are much better devices in many senses. But if you are desperate to buy a Windows phone, it is a great option for you.
